"Jeremie Belpois!" Aelita was right behind him as he ran. "Get back here!"
"You have to catch me first!" Jeremie taunted. Of course, he knew it was an empty bluff. He was already winded, and unsure of how much further he could go.
It was Valentine's Day, and Jeremie had always hated Valentine's Day. Not because he could never get a date, but because he thought it was pointless. But ever since Aelita had come into his life, he had found the meaning of the day.
He was running from Aelita because he had, with the help of none other than Odd Della-Robbia, pulled the mother of all Valentine's Day pranks on her. While Aelita was in the showers, he and Odd had snuck into her room and painted a giant heart on the wall (with washable paint). Then, he had rigged her door so that when Aelita opened it, a confetti cannon filled with tons of glitter hearts shot right at her, showering her with the confetti.
But he didn't stop there. A few hours after this, he and Odd made this giant Valentine's Day card, seemingly harmless. But when Aelita opened it, a pink dye pack exploded, dousing her neck and clothes in the dye.
It was that final stunt that set her off. She chased him directly out of class and into the woods. Odd was following at a safe distance, just to see what went down.
Jeremie was growing tired really fast, and could barely draw a full breath. He detoured into what he thought was a good hiding spot. Aelita passed by him, unaware. After staying there for a few seconds to catch his breath, he started to move out of the spot.
Odd caught up to him, breathing heavily. "You think we lost her?"
"I hope so." Jeremie started laughing. "God, that was fun!"
"Never would have pegged you for the type of person to do this." Odd looked at him.
"I'm not. But I figured I needed a good laugh."
"You know she's gonna totally be pissed at you when she finds you, right?" Odd drew in a breath and leaned against a tree.
"Yeah, but it can't be that bad."
"Really, Mr. Belpois?" Aelita's voice boomed out from behind them. They turned to see her slender figure, covered with that pink dye, hop down from a fallen tree. "It can't be that bad?"
" Jeremie didn't even try to run. He knew he was caught.
"Dude, you're on your own." Odd dashed out of sight.
"Thanks for leaving me out to dry!" Jeremie called after him. Then he turned to Aelita, who was less than a foot away from him. He chuckled weakly.
"So this is my Valentine's Day present?" Aelita slowly advanced on him. His back was against a tree, so there was no way out.
"A-Aelita... w-well, this was
" He couldn't get the words out fast enough. Aelita was directly in front of him now, her nose an inch from his.
"This isn't April Fools, moron. It's Valentine's Day." She poked a finger in his chest. "Do you even know what that means?"
"So, tell me, what on this Earth possessed you to do something like this?"
Jeremie tripped over his words, stuttering and mumbling so bad, Aelita couldn't understand what he was saying. After a minute of this, she pressed her left hand against his shoulder, pinning it to the tree.
"W-what are you d-doing?" Jeremie asked.
"Oh, shut up and kiss me." With that, she pressed her lips against his. Jeremie froze. Aelita's arm was pinning him against the tree, and she was kissing him. Her other hand was running down his side, wrapping itself around his waist. Then the hand that was pinning him slid under his head.
He found himself wanting to kiss her back. Without thinking, he opened his mouth and pressed back against her lips. He wrapped his arms around her waist.
Suddenly, she stopped. "Gotten over your fear of kissing, have we?" she said with a grin on her face.
I was mad, but
this is my Valentine's Day present to you." She kissed him again, more forceful this time, full of passion. It looked like she'd wanted to do this for a long time.
For a long hour, or maybe two or three, they stood there, kissing each other nonstop. Deep, passionate, open-mouthed kisses that sent them off into their own little world where nothing else mattered but them.
Aelita reluctantly broke off the kiss. Then they started panting for air. They hadn't realized that they'd been holding their breath every time they kissed.
interesting." Jeremie remarked. Aelita patted down her skirt.
"We should, um
" She bit her lip. "We should get back."
"Yeah." They started to walk back.
you're not a bad kisser." Aelita remarked. Jeremie's face turned as pink as Aelita's hair.
"You're better, though." Now it was Aelita's turn to blush. She held his hand as they walked back to Kadic.
"Finally! Where the hell were you guys?" Ulrich said as Aelita and Jeremie walked up to their table.
"I thought she'd tear you up for sure." Odd said, smirking.
"We haven't seen you for hours! Where were you?" Yumi asked.
Jeremie and Aelita looked at each other. "We were, uh
"Never mind; you guys must be hungry." Odd said, pushing his tray of food towards them.
"Odd, are you feeling okay?" Ulrich asked.
"Yeah, but I feel like I owe them something
" he winked at Jeremie. "After all, I did get you two into this mess."
"Thanks, Odd." Aelita said.
"So, where were you guys?" Yumi asked them. They just looked at each other and blushed softly.
"Nowhere, really." Jeremie answered. "Just the woods." And with that, he and Aelita started to eat, hearts pounding as they remembered what they did.
